The footwear component industry originates from the shoe companies themselves.
Over time and with product specialisation, components now stand for an industrial manufacturing sector that supplies specialised products to footwear and leather good companies.
Nowadays, the footwear component sector is huge. It is made up of 600 companies in total which are mainly SME´s that currently employ 11,000 people.

Following the restructuring period that redefined companies, the new productive model was incorporated into the sector, and the rate of growth is currently slow but continual.
The sector's main driving force lies in: the product design and the quality, a quick meticulous service and the innovation used in the products.
